The Big Things of Australia: Exploring the Inspiration Behind our Recent Jigsaw Puzzle

Australia is known for its stunning landscapes, rich wildlife, and vibrant culture. In fact, as born and bred Aussies, we are no stranger to the feeling of returning home after an overseas trip only to realise how lucky we are to live in such a unique and beautiful country. From natural, ancient and sacred sights like Uluru and the Kakadu National Park, to modern feats of engineering like the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Arts Centre in Melbourne, it’s easy to be stunned by our landscape.

Among our many attractions, there are a series of oversized landmarks scattered across the country known as the "Big Things". These quirky and often kitschy structures have become iconic roadside attractions, each with its own unique charm and story.

Not only are they representations of many objects inherent to Australian culture, but the fact we’ve made them monuments is a classic display of Aussie humour. This is why we at Happy Day People decided to dedicate our latest Jigsaw design to the iconic “Big Things of Australia”.

When Claudia began researching the official “Big Things” she was surprised to learn of how many there are scattered throughout the nation. Sure, we knew about The Big Banana in Coffs Harbour NSW, The Big Pineapple in Woombye QLD, and The Big Prawn in Ballina NSW. However, we were stunned and elated to discover hundreds of weird and wonderful landmarks. So many that we actually couldn’t fit them all. After sorting through our personal favourites we managed to include a whopping 82 in our puzzle design.
